Do you remember what it felt like as a little kid to be completely free?
Before you ever got the memo to fit in, to play small, to dim yourself down...
Before you ever had a thought about being "good enough," singing "in tune," getting it "right," or worrying if you looked bad, silly, awkward, or out of place...
Before you encountered concepts like judgment, competition, or rejection...
The you before allll of that is your true essence, your raw spirit, your creative soul, your most uninhibited, playful, joyfully & authentically expressed self!
We can also think of this part of you as your inner child (👋 hi, little friend!)
As adults, it's so easy to lose connection with this part of ourselves.
We get wrapped up in life's routine busy-ness, obligations and responsibilities.
We put pressure on ourselves to only be seen at our best, and end up staying complacent and confined in our comfort zones.
We forget, or maybe don't know how or where to go, to tend to that playful song that's in our hearts.

Musical theater, when played with in a safe, exploratory space, is a medium that allows us to feel, to connect to parts of our inner worlds and to one another, and to set our souls free through song, movement, and expression.

i'm Evin, camp creator, coach & head counselor :)
I'm a former theater-kid who grew up, left her first love behind, and has spent many years now belting (off tune) in my car and sitting in audiences with teary eyes of joy and nostalgia.
Musical theater makes my soul feel ALIVE, and while I'm always blown away by the skill and talent of professional performers, what really does it for me are the elements that are accessible to all of us.
〜 It's the connection to ourselves and one another.
〜It's the chills and liberation we feel when our voices come together in harmony.
〜It's the permission to try things on, be silly, messy, imperfect, to celebrate our authenticity, our inner weirdos, our humanity.
〜It's the safe, supportive space to set down our grown-up worries, perfectionism & productivity, to get off our freakin' phones and just PLAY!!!
Inner Child Theater Camp has been brewing inside of me for years as a culmination of my work as a Self Love & Empowerment Coach, retreat facilitator, and, of course, the 10 year old theater nerd who is always with me.

Frank Meely
Music director + vocal coach
As head of Ascend Music Studios, Frank is bringing his nearly 2 decades of vocal coaching, music direction and performance experience to camp! With an emphasis on healthy technique and playful exploration, Frank will be an encouraging guide as he helps every camper to build confidence and to come together to create a unified sound.
Fun fact: He’s also a certified Enneagram coach and a big believer in blending personality insight with creative growth!
Frank is elated to join you this summer, and to help you breathe deep, free your voice, and fill your heart & soul in community! He also loves to remind us that it's called PLAY for a reason: We don’t work music or theatre...we play!
Melanie Stanek
ICTC contributor, warm up games + embodiment guide
Melanie (she/her) is passionate about community building through creativity. She currently works as a Teaching Artist and Facilitator in schools and community settings, encouraging folks of all backgrounds to unleash their inner goofball in service of greater connection and resiliency.
A long time theatre kid, singer and mover, Melanie also teaches yoga and meditation as a way to (re)connect with our most embodied selves.
She is thrilled to get to know you this summer, and to help you get out of your head, into your body, and FREE to express, play, and connect!
Sean Libiran
Choreography + movement guide
Sean (he/him) is a choreographer, professional performer, and dance captain with over 20 years of musical theater experience, spanning countless productions including CATS, A Chorus Line, and Cabaret.
Beyond his technical expertise, Sean has a deep passion for creating welcoming, empowering spaces for adult learners– especially beginners! He's deeply committed to inclusivity and loves to celebrate each dancer's individuality.
Sean is STOKED to be a part of ICTC, and to invite our campers to bring their full, authentic selves to the dance floor. He'll encourage you to release any insecurities, move boldly, express freely, and have a ridiculously good time doing it!

The Chrysalis: Monarch Center for the Arts' mission is to create arts-based spaces that allow community members of all ages to access, amplify, and elevate their voice, self-expression, identity, agency, and sense of belonging.
They envision a world where youth and adults use the tools and resources of the arts to help imagine, create, and build the vibrant and successful life they desire and deserve.
The Chrysalis is a 6,000 square foot arts space in San Diego's Barrio Logan neighborhood with a flexible theatre, dance studio, and multiple other beautiful spaces to help us create a magical ICTC experience!
